A.M.N (Any Minute Now)

A.M.N (Any Minute Now) finds Cassper Nyovest clapping back at his critics and examining his role as a Black man in society. But at the same time he’s revelling in being on the verge of a whole new life chapter. Influenced by the imminent birth of his firstborn, the album’s name and ultrasound artwork bear the significance of Mufasa’s family expanding. Its 21 mammoth tracks, meanwhile, amass a diverse cast of featuring artists. Genre-wise it’s anything goes as Cassper flexes gospel, trap, kwaito and flecks of jazz. He pays homage to fallen rap icon Pro Kid on “Isinkwa” and township pop queen Brenda Fassie on “Friday Night (feat. Samthing Soweto)”. But it’s “Nyuku”—featuring motswako originators HHP (RIP), Khuli Chana, Mo’ Molemi, Towdee Mac and DJ Lemonka—that proves that no matter what heights Nyovest reaches, he will never forget his roots.
