Thin Lizzy Essentials

Thin Lizzy Essentials

First coming together in 1969, Dublin's Thin Lizzy became international stars upon the release of their sixth album, 1976's multi-platinum Jailbreak. Their sound was based on thundering rhythms and harmonizing guitars, which owed much to Irish folk music, and bandleader Phil Lynott's common-man lyrics spoke to an entire generation of disaffected teen boys. Melody was king for Thin Lizzy, and their catchy hard rock influenced countless bands, but multiple lineup changes and ongoing drug problems led to the group's collapse in '83. Lynott died three years later at the age of 36.
