Duke Ellington: An Introduction

While a master at the piano, Duke Ellington made his true mark on musical history through his decorated career as a composer and leader of perhaps the greatest American big band. Throughout his five-decaded career, Ellington composed works specifically tailored to showcase the talents of his players, many of whom kick-started their careers under his direction. His extensive body of compositions includes some of jazz's most-respected film scores, stage musicals, and standards, including “Black, Brown, and Beige,” “In a Sentimental Mood,” and “Take The ‘A’ Train.”
