About Marie-Catherine Girod

Pianist Marie Catherine Girod performs a wide range of standard repertory but specializes in French music, often turning to contemporary and rare works. She has had a long career as an educator. Girod has been especially visible at festivals around France and beyond. She plays both chamber music and concertos, notably with the Orchestre symphonique de Bretagne. Girod has performed rarities and contributed to the rediscovery of their composers, including Gabriel Dupont and Gustave Samazeuilh. Girod's 1981 album of piano sonatas by Auric, Jolivet, and Dutilleux that won the Grand prix de l’Académie nationale du disque français. She has issued albums devoted to Dupont and Samazeuilh and, in 2021, the recital Regards de femmes.
