About Gator Beat
While Gator Beat have its musical roots in the deep swamps of the Louisiana Bayou, band members have come from literally all over the world. Founded by Richard Domingue in Lafayette, Louisiana, Gator Beat started performing in and around Louisiana, perfecting its brand of Cajun music. David Scott joined Gator Beat after moving from his native Australia to Tahiti to eventually sitting in with Domingue at a concert. The group also added drummer and Guam native William Blackwell, a former member of Big Brother and The Holding Co.. After touring across North America for years, Gator Beat relocated its base from Louisiana to the San Francisco Bay area. In 1999, Gator Beat released its debut album River Gonna Go on Globe Music. Having performed with Marcia Ball and C.J. Chernier, Gator Beat also performed at the Crawfish Festival and the Britt Festival in Oregon. In 2002, the band released its second album Lucky Stars on Globe. ~ Jason MacNeil
