About Ben Gallaher

A country singer/songwriter who plays with the passion (and guitar firepower) of a rock & roller, Ben Gallaher's rowdy tales of small-town life have won him a loyal fan following. Gallaher was born and raised in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, and he displayed a passion for music at an early age. When he was just six years old, his parents gave him a guitar, and he taught himself to play. He stuck with the instrument over the years, and began writing songs that reflected the influence of '90s country stars such as Garth Brooks, Clint Black, Brooks & Dunn, and Tim McGraw, as well as the anthemic sound of classic rock. When Gallaher graduated from high school, his dream was to move to Nashville, Tennessee and attend Belmont University, where he would study the music business. Belmont didn't accept Gallaher at first, so he enrolled at Penn State; however, after a year, he had the opportunity to transfer to Belmont, and he eagerly took it. In Music City, Gallaher divided his time between academics and music, forming a band and playing as many gigs as his schedule would permit. In 2014, Gallaher took a class in A&R administration, and his professor took an interest in his music. With her help, Gallaher landed a recording contract with Sony Music, and he was able to pursue his musical career full-time. In August 2017 he released his debut EP, simply titled Ben Gallaher, through the Sony-distributed Columbia Nashville label. The EP featured five songs chosen from the 150 he had ready to go when he began recording. ~ Mark Deming
