About 112

Starting in the late 1990s, R&B group 112—one of the first acts signed to Sean Combs’ Bad Boy Records—had a string of hit albums packed with four-part harmonies and romantic balladry. ∙ The group’s self-titled 1996 debut included the breakout single “Only You,” which they performed on an episode of the sitcom Moesha. ∙ In 1997, Puff Daddy recruited 112 for the Grammy-winning smash “I’ll Be Missing You,” a tribute to the late rapper Notorious B.I.G. that spent nearly three months atop the Billboard Hot 100. ∙ Room 112 went double-Platinum, thanks to such hits as “Love Me,” which featured a guest turn by rapper Mase and a sample of Luther Vandross’ 1981 single “Don’t You Know That?” ∙ “Peaches & Cream,” from the 2001 chart-topper Part III, earned the group a Grammy nomination and the top slot on Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop chart.
