Vuelve

Vuelve

The contemporary boom of trapcorridos consistently providing fresh youthful energy to regional Mexican music wouldn’t be quite so robust and thriving without Danny Felix. Phoenix-based with roots in Sinaloa, the songwriter and composer has been integral to numerous hits and defining singles in the movement, including Natanael Cano’s “Soy el Diablo” and “Pacas Verdes.” On the solo album Vuelve, he takes center stage to demonstrate proficiency in both the genre evolution he helped spawn as well as other complementary styles. Felix’s signature guitar sound heard on his Cano collabs returns for “Impala Tumbado” and “Mala Experiencia,” his comparatively melodic voice bringing a different quality to the tracks overall. Not content to repeat himself too much, he switches things up with the soaring “Inténtalo.”
