Acoustic guitarist Lawson Rollins uses flamenco as the basis for his music and technique, but he’s also always had an inclusive ear that leads to pastiches of Latin and jazz, pop and new age, as well as a variety of Mediterranean traditions. This explains the song titles on his sixth solo album, not to mention the international cast of supporting players involved. Those interested in a more organic sound should turn to “Berlin Bossa” (which quotes from Bach) and “Journey Home,” while the concise title track, the fiery “Barcelona Express,” and the urban trilogy of the final three songs are very much of the moment.
