Even at their most ambitious, La Maquinaria Norteña have remained a great party band, thrilling dancers on both sides of the border. Propelled by Keith Nieto's unique saxophone hooks, Por Obvias Razones will certainly get you jumping, especially when the quintet is ripping into cumbia rhythms on "Pica Piedra." Like a norteño version of a roadhouse country band or a lean-and-mean R&B combo, La Maquinaria Norteña really shine when they can swing hard, but they still bring plenty of passion to slow dances like "Así Como Tú."
