Sincerely For You

Sincerely For You

You’d be surprised how far a good relationship can take you. Well, maybe not if you're Jacquees. The Atlanta-hailing Cash Money Records singer's third studio album is executive-produced by friend and collaborator Future—yes, that Future, the superstar MC whose singing voice is anything but traditional. But the most incredible part of the arrangement is how easily it seems to have come together. “Future is like my big bro,” Jacquees told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “I was basically in the studio in Miami one day and Future came to holler at Bird and Slim and played [them] a couple records that we had already did. Stunna was like, ‘Why you ain't tell me you had songs with Future?’ I'm like, ‘Man, I forgot.’ Future was like, ‘I could really executive-produce the whole project.’ And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how business gets done.” If Sincerely for You carries any traces of Future’s influence, though, they're likely buried in the character traits he and Jacquees naturally share. We hear Future’s voice on the you’re-too-pretty-not-to-spoil ode “When You Bad Like That,” but we can imagine him nodding along approvingly to Jacquees singing about humble beginnings on “Sincerely for You (Intro)” and “The Mud”; how he’ll treat a lover better than anyone else will on “Say Yea,” “Reason Why,” and “Be With You”; and the voracity of his sexual appetite on “Ya Body,” “Way Too Many Shots,” “Still That,” and “Tipsy.” Interestingly enough, it’s the 6LACK and Summer Walker collaboration “Tell Me It’s Over”—as opposed to, say, “Sex, Hennessy & R&B,” a song whose title posits it as the ultimate distillation of the Jacquees lifestyle—that the singer feels is most representative of the vision for this project. “It's a great opportunity to work with Summer Walker all the time, and 6LACK,” he says. “I got a lot of them on this album, but I definitely feel like this record right here is just special. It's one of those Jacquees records that all my fans been waiting for.”
