WINNER’s third album serves as the quartet’s bittersweet statement as singers Hoony and Jinu enlist in mandatory military service in April 2020. So it’s appropriate that Remember unfolds like a musical slideshow. It’s a set of eight new songs and four retrofitted/remastered tracks that display their mastery of R&B-tinged ballads (“My bad,” “Teaser”) and hyperkinetic K-pop (MINO’s rapfest “Hold” and the all-for-fun “Just dance”). Then, to crank up the sentimentality, Jinu and Hoony are given solo spotlights (“Dduk” and “Serenade,” respectively), while the album’s bookends “Remember” and “Well” offer warm memories and fare-thee-well hugs.
