For the third volume of Pa’ los Recuerdos, he pays tribute to the artists and, most importantly, the songwriters who preceded him in the genre on both sides of the border. With a full band in tow, he offers spirited renditions of favorites such as “Al Cortar una Gardenia” and “Las Tres Vueltas.” On his standout cover of Los Barón de Apodaca’s “Por Esa Calle Vive,” his booming voice cuts through the lively instrumentation to make every word count.
