Songs for Any Taste

Songs for Any Taste

This 1957 album finds singer Mel Tormé at the top of his game, backed by pianist/arranger Marty Paich, pianist Ralph Sharon, and others for a set that mixes studio material with live recordings from The Crescendo nightclub, where Tormé worked regularly. A master entertainer (check out his stage patter and faux French accent on “Autumn Leaves”!) and singer, Tormé uses lesser-known material like “It’s All Right with Me” and “Home by the Sea” to augment excellent versions of “Manhattan,” “It’s De-Lovely," and “Tenderly.” This has been remastered for digital release, offering crisp top-flight production values.
