Miss Busdriver (Rachel) EP

Miss Busdriver (Rachel) EP

A founding member of venerable California indie-rap crew Living Legends, Eligh has a ridiculously thorough discography that stretches back to cassette-only releases from the early '90s. He was also one-third of the group 3 Melancholy Gypsys (with Murs and Scarub) and half of G & E Music, with longtime homie the Grouch. Known for his unique, awkward-yet-melodic voice, intricate flow, and personal songwriting, he helped lay the template for an against-the-grain style that would be followed by many other underground MCs, but never really blew up outside of hardcore LL fanatics and overseas heads. "Miss Busdriver (Rachel)" is the first single off his new album Grey Crow, and is a touching tribute to his aunt Rachel, set to minimalist drums and mellow keyboard flourishes, while "Love Ov My Life" teams him with fellow Legend Luckyiam and singer Paris Hayes. Two good tunes, plus the instrumental mixes, from an under-appreciated talent whose time to shine is finally here.
