Letter to Heaven is, essentially, two Dolly Parton albums in one: The first 10 songs comprise the entirety of her 1971 LP The Golden Streets of Glory, while the rest of the LP is filled with religious gems from the same era. "Book of Life," written by the singer's reverend grandfather, ascends on the back of a tight, energetic piano riff, while "Lord Hold My Hand" rejoices over a gospel-leaning Nashville-sound arrangement, making for a golden tour through Parton’s spiritual side.
