In her decision to cover “Jingle Bells” for Carols Covered—Apple Music’s collection of older Christmas songs updated by contemporary artists—singer-songwriter Joy Oladokun wanted to remind people to take it easy. "It's a fun, sort of raucous song,” she says. “I feel like everybody has a goofy version that they sing in a car or that they grew up listening to.” Oladokun, whose fondest holiday memories include large family gatherings of “20 or 30 people,” adds that she appreciates how inclusive the song is. “It's a cool representation of Christmastime that doesn't necessarily have any religious or spiritual undertones. It's literally about the sounds and the vibe of the season.”
