Jim Corcoran

Jim Corcoran

Jim Corcoran became a Canadian folk star as half of Jim et Bertrand, but his eclectic solo albums maintained his incisive lyricism. His fourth record kicks off with the folk rocker “Prête-moi ton regard,” its William Blake quotes adding to the poetic heft, but “La nostalgie” introduces a slamming beat, chattering R&B guitar, and horns, while “Laisse faire” boasts a sensual blues/jazz feel. Things come full circle on acoustic closer “Je me tutoie,” nodding to Corcoran’s roots while ending on an intriguingly elliptical note.
