Forq

Forq

The members of Forq are heavy with musical credibility—guitarist Adam Rogers played with Norah Jones and Paul Simon, keyboardist Henry Hey is in Rudder, bassist Michael League is in Snarky Puppy, and drummer Nate Smith has played with Dave Holland and Chris Botti. Mostly featuring originals by Hey and Rogers, this muscular but moody debut is a decidedly electric-jazz affair that recalls the sound and groove of Steely Dan and early-‘70s Herbie Hancock. Highlights include “Stella” with its ping-ponging parts and great solo from Rogers, the tricky-sounding “Grout,” and the funky “Virdania.”
