Diez

Diez

A decade is a long time in an industry as fickle as music, with no exceptions in the always vibrant and competitive regional Mexican scene. Over the ten years preceding Diez, this durable and reliable group has only seen its acclaim and prospects soar as one of the brightest proponents of the norteño-sax form. Led by frontman Adrián Zamarripa, this well-timed tenth endeavor from La Energía Norteña exemplifies everything fans have come to admire and adore from them. Case in point: The Texan rock riffage that kicks off “Cada Vez Me Gusta Más” gives way to a familiar mix of accordion flourishes, saxophone accents, and tender lyricism. Their steadfast romanticism persists on cuts including the heartfelt “14 de Febrero” and the pleading “¿Con Cuántos Besos?”
