Black Metal (La Coka Nostra Presents Ill Bill)

Black Metal (La Coka Nostra Presents Ill Bill)

Best known as a founding member of the legendary now-defunct New York crew Non Phixion—as well as for being Necro's brother and the man behind Uncle Howie Records—Ill Bill has been steadily releasing hardcore, next-level hip-hop since the '90s. Known for his dense lyricism (which often addresses conspiracy theories, shadow governments, terrorism, drug addiction, and pornography), he's also down with several crews, including La Coka Nostra, Heavy Metal Kings, and Circle of Tyrants. Here, interspersed with clips from the classic late-'80s Geraldo–meets–Charles Manson interview, we get tons of ferocious beats built on spooky minor-key loops and extreme metal samples, plus Bill and the usual suspects spouting off about all manner of things twisted, unseemly, and disturbed. Don't miss collabos with OC and Jeru the Damaja ("The 3 Wise Men"), Styles O ("Come One, Come All"), or "Darkness Deepens," featuring Slaine and Sabac Red.
