Al Estilo Rancherón

Al Estilo Rancherón

A fraternal duo of actual brothers, Los Dos Carnales excel at any number of música mexicana styles, be it saxophone-accented norteño or triumphal corridos. As its title suggests, the award-winning Al Estilo Rancherón finds Poncho Jr. and Imanol Quezada in ranchera mode, accordion at the ready. Their songs paint detailed pictures of humility and courage in equal measure, crestfallen on “Ay Nomás” and content on the title track. The storytelling behind “El Inmigrante” and the gritty “El Álamo” runs the gamut of their corridos prowess. Among the album’s many bright spots, “El Envidioso” earns the distinction of becoming one of the pair’s signatures, its survivor’s testimonials and references to TV’s El Chavo del Ocho resulting in something unique and special.
