While often at the front of India’s EDM circuit, producer Sanaya Ardeshir—aka Sandunes—has steadily shifted her attention to major recording projects. Her 2020 EP Spare Some Time bore collaborative fruits, as did the splendid electronic-jazz album Spaven x Sandunes with drummer Richard Spaven. On Nowhere to Stand, Sandunes lays out a brainy plot of glitch-y, melodic dance beats with the powerful yet accessible voices of Half Waif (“Shadow”), Landslands (“A Little While”) and Ramya Pothuri (“Ghosts”). Plus, Sid Sriram injects a mix of Carnatic and R&B harmonies on the title track.
