Frontman Micky Braun and his brother Gary were raised in the Sawtooth Mountains of Stanley, ID, by western swing musician Muzzie Braun. Along with their older brothers Cody and Willie, they comprised Muzzie Braun & the Little Braun Brothers Band, cutting their baby teeth on country music. Then Cody and Willie split to form Reckless Kelly while Micky and Gary moved to Austin, TX to assemble Micky and the Motorcars. Naïve is a "third time's the charm" album. Sure, they had the chops from day one, but the seasoned chemistry between these stellar players fuels Naïve as much as the songs. The title track opens with a blistering Americana rock 'n' roll tune about infidelity. It's a typical twang theme, though these lyrics veer from vengeance to focus on more mature issues like trust and humility. "Long Enough To Leave" sounds like another cheating song at first, but it's actually about how touring in a band affects marriage. "Misunderstood" boasts a Byrdsy 12-string, courtesy of Braun's brother Willy who collaborated on songwriting. Guests Randy Rogers, Kevin Welch and Rob Kern help flesh out Naïve.
