Cookies 'N' Beans

About Cookies 'N' Beans

Swedish country trio Cookies 'N' Beans made their Top Ten hit album debut with Beg, Borrow and Steal in 2010. Founded in 2003 in Stockholm, the trio is comprised of Frida Öhrn, Linda Ström, and Charlotte Centervall. Born on February 24, 1979, in Solna, Sweden, Öhrn is also a member of the indie pop band Oh Laura. Their influences include Dolly Parton, Lucinda Williams, and Emmylou Harris. Cookies 'N' Beans made their full-length album debut with Tales from a Trailer Trash Soul in 2007. They broke into the Swedish mainstream a couple years later with the Top 30 single "What If," a ballad with which they competed at the Melodifestivalen in 2009 in hopes of qualifying for the Eurovision Song Contest. They subsequently signed a major-label deal with Capitol and worked with producers Kristofer Åström and Magnus Tingsek on their second album, Beg, Borrow and Steal, which includes songwriting contributions from Lisa Miskovsky, Sophie Zelmani, Tobias Fröberg, and Peter Morén (of Peter Bjorn and John fame). Beg, Borrow and Steal was a Top Ten hit on the Swedish albums chart and spawned the single "First We Take Manhattan." ~ Jason Birchmeier
