My Echo

My Echo

Laura Veirs’ 11th solo album was conceived under uniquely difficult circumstances. While putting the finishing touches on the ruminative My Echo, the Portland singer-songwriter separated from ex-husband Tucker Martine, who also produced the album’s ten songs. The golden-hued folk pop sounds introspective as a result, from the propulsive and beat-driven “Turquoise Walls” to the hushed reveries of closing track “Vapor Trails.” But this album sounds far from solitary: My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, M. Ward, Karl Blau, and Bill Frisell all lend their considerable talents to this document of lost love and moving forward from your past.
