About Elizabeth Atherton

The activities of soprano Elizabeth Atherton extend from opera to concert works and song recitals. She has a strong commitment to contemporary music. Atherton made her recording debut in 1996 with a soprano part on the album The Songs of Angels by the Trinity College Choir, Cambridge. Atherton made her professional debut with the English Touring Opera and was then engaged as a cast member with the Welsh National Opera. She has appeared in major roles in several new operas, including Thomas Adès' The Exterminating Angel at the Royal Albert Hall. Atherton has recorded recitals with top accompanists Malcolm Martineau and Iain Burnside. She has appeared on several more albums, including the 2023 BBC Philharmonic Orchestra album Shostakovich: Symphony No. 14; Six Verses of Marina Tsvetayeva.
