About Slim Whitman
One of American music's greatest yodelers, Slim Whitman is a country/pop crossover artist who scored big in the U.S. with such songs as "Indian Love Call," but ultimately found his greatest success in England. He became the first country star to headline at the London Palladium, influencing the Beatles along the way. In the '70s and '80s, the Floridian singer was best known to many in the U.S. through a popular series of TV commercials advertising his records, but Whitman's music was introduced to a new generation in the satirical 1996 Tim Burton film MARS ATTACKS, where "Indian Love Call" turns out be the only thing that can defeat the Martian invaders.
