About Kiroro
Known for their emotional piano ballads, Kiroro is a Japanese-pop duo featuring vocalist Chiharu Tamashiro and keyboardist Ayano Kinjō. ∙ Formed in 1996, Kiroro took their name from a word that means “heart” in the language of the Ainu people of northern Japan. ∙ The Okinawa-based group’s first big hit was the sweet, yearning “Nagai Aida,” which became the sixth best-selling single in Japan in 1998. ∙ As one of Japan’s most successful singing acts, they appeared on the prestigious, long-running New Year’s Eve TV special Kōhaku Uta Gassen in 1998, 1999, and 2001. ∙ Kiroro’s song “Best Friend -Mother Earth Version-” was used in the end credits on the Japanese-language version of the 2015 animated film The Good Dinosaur.
