Turf Sinatra

Turf Sinatra

Coming out of Vallejo, California, Turf Talk has been steadily rising up through the ranks, and he clearly knows a little something about independent hustling, thanks to his close association with cousin/mentor, Bay Area icon E-40. Fans of the hyphy movement no doubt remember many of his local hit singles and key albums like The Street Novelist and West Coast Vaccine (The Cure), as well as numerous show-stealing guest appearances over the years. On Turf Sinatra, he comes at us with a slightly different and more refined style, slower on the BPMs but still just as hard as his earlier work. Though relatively short at just 10 tracks, there is really no filler here whatsoever, just quality joints built on diverse production and maturing lyricism. “First Date" (featuring the Jacka and Twelve Gauge Shotie), "Toast" (with Yukmouth and Gonzo), and the slinky, old-school vibe of "What Can I Do" are all standouts. With more music like this, it's just a matter of time before Turf Talk goes from “big in the Bay” to a legitimate national star.
