Jeff Parker

About Jeff Parker

Guitarist Jeff Parker is a versatile musician, composer, and producer. His relaxed yet precise guitar playing adapts to numerous musical styles including -- but not limited to -- vanguard improv, post-bop jazz, experimental electronic, funk, and indie rock. Parker is a highly regarded ensemble player, as evidenced by his membership in Tortoise, Ernest Dawkins' New Horizons Ensemble, and early tenures in the Brian Blade Fellowship and Chicago Underground Duo, and 21st century recordings with Makaya McCraven, Fred Anderson, Nicole Mitchell, and Matana Roberts. His own albums have been a diverse lot. 2004's Relatives was a post-bop quartet outing, while 2016's The New Breed revealed his love of vintage soul, funk, and hip-hop. He continued in that direction on 2020's Suite for Max Brown. In December 2021, Parker released the solo guitar album Forfolks, recorded at his California home studio.
