Rush of Fools

Rush of Fools

Alabama-based Rush of Fools enters the ranks of modern worship bands with a first release filled with guileless faith and uninhibited hope. This quartet may be young in years, but the prayers and paeans they offer are timeless in content. Produced by ex-Jars of Clay member Matt Brownlee, the album’s tracks offer a tasteful combination of acoustic and electric pop/rock, with a little techno coloration here and there, and lead singer/guitarist Wes Willis brings an awestruck sense of reverence to his band’s compositions. Some tracks — particularly the Christian radio hit “Undo” and the boisterous chant-along “We All” — echo the roof-shaking praise anthems of the David Crowder Band and MercyMe. Other tunes have a country-pop tinge, emphasizing polished melodies and devotional lyrics. Songs like “Already,” “Jesus Hurry” and “Peace Be Still” underscore their themes of God’s abiding love with fervent, slightly breathy vocals and resonant guitar lines. It's fair to say Rush of Fools has kicked off their recording career with a sincere, soul-winning effort displaying real promise.
