About AKLO

With roots in Japan and Mexico, rapper AKLO has become a formidable presence in the Japanese hip-hop community since the early 2010s. • AKLO was born in Tokyo and raised in Mexico City. His mother is Japanese, and his father is Mexican. The trilingual MC often flexes English bars in his raps. • His 2012 debut album, The Package, topped Japan’s iTunes chart. The independent project features Japanese hip-hop artist Norikiyo. • In 2013, AKLO's “Red Pill” was nominated for Best Hip Hop Song at the MTV VMAJs. • The rapper’s sophomore full-length, The Arrival, dropped in 2014. • The Japanese television series Smoking used a remix of AKLO's “Dirty Work” to serve as its theme song in 2018. • AKLO guested on ALI’s 2020 pop song “LOST IN PARADISE,” the theme to the anime series Jujutsu Kaisen Ending.
