This mix was recorded at Apple Music’s first-ever New Year’s Eve party, a sweaty, strobe-lit celebration of house music at a cavernous warehouse in New York. Papi Juice, a local art and nightlife collective with a mission to center queer and trans people of color, kicked off the festivities with an hour of eclectic, body-moving selections from across the house music spectrum. Early on, we're treated to “Novo Magalenha (Wile Out),” a clubby take on the sounds of Brazilian Carnaval from Portuguese producer Sir Gil Santos that reworks Sergio Mendes’ original track. Later, they drop a new cut from Miami up-and-comers INVT (“MUCHO CALOR”) that blends the sonic elements of ’90s rave with playful guaracha. Indeed, the set is packed with new gems, but you’ll hear plenty of classics too, including cuts from Kenny Dope, Masters At Work, Cajmere, Floorplan, and, of course, fellow performer Honey Dijon.
