Euphony might be the debut release of prog-rock/jazz outfit Heat Sink, but their greenness belies an evident connection with their craft. Mixed and mastered flawlessly by two-time Grammy-winning engineer Thomas Juth, this four-track EP is short on length but big on ideas. On the Ben Goldberg-reminiscent opening salvo "Time Lapse", the young band slip a duet into experimental jazz structures and set a tone for the rest—expect the unexpected. Take "I'm Lost", the album's most accessible cut, for instance—it seeps into keening prog-rock territory without missing a beat.
