Sixteen Love Songs

Sixteen Love Songs

Intoxicating, romantic classics for piano by Liszt, Schubert, Fauré, and more. Inspired by a secondhand copy of Josef Suk’s “Love Song” that he bought in his youth, William Howard’s album is a love letter to romantic piano works, particularly those of Czechoslovakia and Eastern Europe. These selections are sure to relax one to their core, evoking feelings of wellbeing and joyfulness. Faure’s “Andante moderato” from the 3 Romances sans paroles, Op. 17 sounds tender and dramatic under Howard’s gentile fingers, while Suk’s “Love Song” from 6 Piano Pieces, Op. 7 is chromatic and lyrical, taking up the best qualities of Chopin and making them seem wholly original and relatable.
