The title of the intimate solo debut from JBABE aka Josh Fernandez—vocalist for alternative popsters The F16s—is inspired by Charles Bukowski’s eponymous and hedonistic 1979 book of poetry. Fernandez describes the album on social media as a “guide on how to weather a cosmic romance”. His lo-fi bedroom beats are shot through with upfront emotion, making for a playful set of low-slung love songs with elements of retro funk and indie R&B. Infectious, silky-smooth hooks come by way of “Antibambi” and “Pussy Prison”.
