About Luis R Conriquez

Luis R Conriquez has always understood the power of headlines. He first made waves in 2019 with the gritty rags-to-riches tale, “El Búho (En Vivo).” Three years later, his provocative salutes to cartel kingpin Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán on “JGL” and “Siempre Pendientes” made him the godfather of corridos bélicos. Hailing from the Mexican state of Sonora, Conriquez was born in 1996. He began writing songs as a teenager, finding inspiration in the shower after grueling work shifts at local supermarkets and gas stations. Eager to carve his own path in música mexicana, in 2020, he released Corridos Bélicos, the first in a string of star-studded albums that popularized the battle-march arrangements of guitar, charcheta (tenor horn), and tololoche (double bass). Though lovingly committed to corridos, the genre-voracious hitmaker later dipped into EDM for “Guisao” and throbbing dembow riddims on “DEMBOW BÉLICO” and “De Fresa y Coco,” proving that this cowboy can't be tamed.
