Mumbai’s bustling metropolis is a consistent fount of ideas among the MCs who call it home. Gully rap pioneer Naezy is no different, putting the city at the heart of his songs since his debut in 2014. His Apocalypse EP, however, focuses on the grimmer side of the urban experience across four blistering salvos with fierce lyrics and gritty beats. Naezy—aka Naved Shaikh—spits menacing bars over scuttling percussion on title track “Apocalypse” before laying an intense rap over eerie loops and bells on “Choke Slam”. “Hatoda” ends the EP with haunting synths and a blistering lyrical onslaught.
