Zohar Argov swept into the Mizrahi scene like a tidal wave in the late ‘70s, and though he passed away less than a decade later, many still remember him as the king of Mizrahi music. Nowhere was that impact more acutely felt than on 1982’s Nachon Lehayom, which found him belting hearty rock ballads and pop anthems complete with spirited horns and rippling guitar solos. Flavours of Argov’s Yemenite heritage shaded the album, but Nachon Lehayom was closer to mainstream pop than most.
