With a successful career as a singer/songwriter, Idan Amedi has come a long way since he was named runner-up on reality competition Kokhav Nolad in 2006. His first three albums offered powerful material, with rock riffs weaving into traditional Levantine melodies. But on Chelek Mehazman, Amedi is in subdued, intimate mode. Many songs feature little more than his voice, an acoustic guitar and subtle percussion, making the moments where passions rise stand out all the more—most notably on the ardent “Achshav Kulam Rokdim”.
