About Jule Styne
A highly distinguished composer for the musical theatre and films, Jule Styne spent his early life in East London before emigrating to the U.S. He eventually moved to Hollywood, where he met lyricist Sammy Cahn. During the '40s, the pair wrote a number of enduring songs, including "Saturday Night (Is the Loneliest Night of the Week)," and "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!” He wrote the scores for three of Frank Sinatra’s most successful films, STEP LIVELY, ANCHORS AWEIGH and IT HAPPENED IN BROOKLYN. Styne then embarked on an illustrious career in Broadway, composing the music for a string of successful shows, including GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES, GYPSY and FUNNY GIRL.
