About H.e.a.t

A melodic hard rock group from Sweden, H.E.A.T materialized in 2007 with a sound built on a foundation of classic hard rock and late-'80s-inspired commercial heavy metal. They released an eponymous debut in 2008 and found success after a strong showing at the 2009 Melodifestivalen with the hit "1000 Miles." They continued to find favor with melodic rock fans both at home and abroad on subsequent outings like Tearing Down the Walls (2014) and Into the Great Unknown (2017) Founded in 2007 in Upplands Väsby, the band initially consisted of Kenny Leckremo (vocals), Dave Dalone (guitar), Eric Rivers (guitar), Jona Tee (keyboards), Jimmy Jay (bass), and Crash (drums). After signing a recording deal with the label StormVox, the band made its full-length debut in 2008 with the eponymous album H.E.A.T, which was released on Swedish actor Peter Stormare's StormVox label. The group's strong showing on Melodifestivalen drove H.E.A.T up the album chart, all the way to the Top Ten with "1000 Miles" in the Top Five. Their 2010 follow-up, Freedom Rock, received a ranking by Classic Rock Magazine U.K. as one of the Top 50 albums of the year. It would also turn out to be the last for Leckremo, who was soon replaced by Erik Grönwall on lead vocals. Grönwall made his debut on 2012's Address the Nation, which was released by Sony imprint Gain, and again fared well with critics, making the Top Ten lists of several magazines. By 2014, founding guitarist Dalone had also left the group, and the remaining bandmembers delivered Tearing Down the Walls, further honing their hard-edged, melodic rock sound. To document their 2014 headlining tour of Europe, H.E.A.T recorded a set at The Garage in London, leading to the release of their first concert album, Live in London, in early 2015. Following Rivers' departure in October of 2016, former guitarist Dave Dalone returned to H.E.A.T to help them record 2017's Into the Great Unknown, which leaned heavier on the pop side of the hard rock spectrum. Three years later the band returned with H.E.A.T II, which marked a return to the heavy melodic rock of their earlier albums. ~ Jason Birchmeier & James Christopher Monger
