About Indochine

French rock band Indochine came together in 1981 and landed a record deal later that year after playing their first show at a Paris cafe. ∙ Their 1982 debut, L’aventurier, gave them their first taste of commercial and critical success, as journalists voted the title track the winner of the prestigious Bus d’Acier award. ∙ French icon Serge Gainsbourg directed the video for their dreamy 1986 single “Tes yeux noirs,” a massive hit from their multi-Platinum album 3. ∙ Indochine shot back into the spotlight in 2002 with Paradize, a Diamond-certified LP that featured a number of new collaborators, including bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur. ∙ In 2010, they became the first French group to perform at Stade de France, playing to more than 80,000 fans. ∙ The band has been nominated for nine Victoires de la Musique awards—winning once, for Paradize—and was also given the Victoire d’Honneur lifetime achievement award in 2011. ∙ With total record sales topping 10 million, Indochine is one of the biggest-selling French acts of all time.
