About Django Django

Django Django’s freewheeling electro art rock always retains a strong sense of groove, no matter how far down the rabbit hole they go. Made up of friends from the Edinburgh College of Art, the band officially formed in London in 2009. Pushing past comparisons to Scottish cult heroes The Beta Band (whose DJ/keyboardist John Maclean is the older brother of Django Django’s drummer/producer Dave Maclean), the quartet concocted their own distinct, kaleidoscopic sound. Their harmony-rich brew of surf, electro-pop, and psychedelia earned them a Mercury Prize nomination for their 2012 self-produced, self-titled debut album. The band built on that foundation with 2015’s Born Under Saturn and 2018’s Marble Skies, stirring in echoes of The Beach Boys, Ennio Morricone, Depeche Mode, goth, disco, house, and dancehall—all given levity by vocalist Vincent Neff’s spacey falsetto. Django Django continue to keep listeners on their toes, with releases like 2021’s sci-fi indie-dance spectacle Glowing in the Dark, which proves the weirder they get, the more fun they seem to be having.
