About Hawksley Workman

Blessed with a versatile voice, Hawksley Workman injects his dramatic pop and swaggering rock with a touch of the theatrical. Born in 1975 in Huntsville, ON, Ryan Corrigan took on the stage name Hawksley Workman when he moved to Toronto in the late ‘90s. Beginning with 1999’s singer/songwriter release For Him and the Girls, Workman has proven prolific and impossible to pin down genre-wise. In 2001, (Last Night We Were) The Delicious Wolves aimed for glammy pomp with songs like “Jealous of Your Cigarette”; 2003’s Lover/Fighter found him doing harder-edged rock; 2006’s Treeful of Starling offered wistful folk; and 2010’s Milk was all glitchy pop. By putting out many of his records on his own label, Isadora, and working quickly, Workman has been able to create an incredibly eclectic body of material. He’s filled that catalog out with mature folk rock (2019’s Median Age Wasteland) and even experimental jazz, working with guitarist Kevin Breit for 2021’s Breit Workman.
