Perry Farrell

About Perry Farrell

Best known for bringing artiness to L.A. metal as Jane's Addiction's frontman, Perry Farrell wears many other hats: freaky provocateur, promoter nonpareil, celebrity DJ, and godfather of alternative rock. With the Lollapalooza Festival, Farrell helped unite punk, metal, goth, and rap subcultures in one demographic ripe to throw '90s alt-rock up the charts. After Jane's Addiction's 1992 break-up, Farrell released two albums with Porno for Pyros before embracing electronica. Fusing breakbeat, triphop, and world music, he issued his solo debut in 2001 and formed the dance-centric Satellite Party in 2004. Whatever the outlet, Farrell--with his indelible high register vocals and oddball musicality--makes it uniquely his.
