About Tzvi Erez

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. When I was 6 years old, I got my hands on a Beatles album with the song Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da on it. Having an upright piano at home, I kept playing until I got it just right. That's when the decision was made to start my piano education. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Complete Beethoven Piano Sonatas / Wilhelm Kempff Arthur Rubinstein, Chopin: Nocturnes Glenn Gould, Bach: Goldberg Variations, BWV 988 (1981 Recording) My classical repertoire contains Chopin, Beethoven & Bach. When it comes to Chopin Nocturnes, my favourite interpreter is Rubinstein. I grew up listening to Kempf playing Beethoven, and Bach - it's Glenn Gould, with whom I share similar instruction. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Ballade No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 23” My late piano teacher, Mildred Kenton, suggested that I study Ballade 1 by Chopin for my first ever Chopin recording. I also studied it with Andrew Burashko & Antonin Kubalek. Performing the Ballade was a great challenge & achievement for me. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? In early 2003, I performed with string quartets featuring musicians from the TSO. Recently, I had the great pleasure of recording several Bach and other major piano concertos with a full orchestra - an unforgettable experience in my musical journey.
