Sunshower - EP

Sunshower - EP

The Tea Party has never been shy about bowing before the classic-rock gods of yore, but nowhere has that reverence been expressed more innocently and playfully than on Sunshower’s opening track. “Hey Mr. DJ, come on now,” Jeff Martin sings atop the loose Jimmy Page groove of “Summertime,” before rattling off some requests: “Play some Led Zep, T. Rex, or gimme Neil’s Harvest Moon.” After decades of trading in epic mysticism and gothic grandeur, this could possibly be the first song where The Tea Party sounds like they actually want to party. And that carefree, optimistic vibe pervades the rest of this eclectic EP, as manifest in the orchestral anthem “Our Love,” the title track’s psychedelic pop, and the practically Smiths-like shimmer of “The Beautiful.”
