About Luan Santana

Brazilian pop singer Luan Santana rose to fame in the mid-2000s with a combination of matinee idol looks and an impassioned take on the wildly popular sertanejo style of music. ∙ Santana was discovered as a teen in 2008 when a friend posted his cover of Claudia Leitte’s “Falando Sério,” which quickly racked up 500,000 views. ∙ His first live album, 2009’s Ao Vivo, was recorded in front of an audience of 85,000 at Parque Das Nações Indigenas in Campo Grande. ∙ “Adrenalina,” the opening track on his second live album, Ao Vivo No Rio, hit the top of the Brazilian Pop chart in 2010. ∙ The 2015 live version of emotional ballad “Escreve Aí” spent 17 weeks atop Billboard’s Brazil radio airplay chart—a feat surpassed only by Mariah Carey’s cover of “I Want to Know What Love Is.” ∙ The singer has been nominated for the Best Sertaneja Music Album Latin Grammy Award four times, including for 2019’s Live-Móvel (Ao Vivo).
